Drift Membrane

interactive video installation
2010

Proposed for a science and art museum, Drift Membrane is a living wall, a permeable membrane that responds to visitors. Like a cell wall, the piece allows partial views into the museum from outside, and the doors act as transport channels, ferrying visitors back and forth. Based on biological models, the piece is always changing, never the same, and, equipped with a sensing system, it reacts gracefully when visitors cross through.
