Flower Umbilicus

interactive video installation
2004

A circular platform is covered by a glowing skin. As viewers' shadows cross the platform the skin peels back to reveal an underlying turbulent layer. When viewers leave, the top layer slowly grows back, sometimes leaving small holes as remnants of the interaction. An off-center hole, theĀ umbilicus, never grows over, always revealing the under layer.
